Fit in Target

I was running errands with the three younger kids. Sam, (older sister) went to look at clothes, Lil' Bro was in the seat of the cart and JJ was in the back of the cart. JJ wanted to go home, but I told him that Target was our last stop then we would go home.

Suddenly in the middle of the store JJ starts screaming like he's being attacked. I'm still 100% sure that if I would have left the store he would have done that every time he wanted to leave. Even if I would have taken him to the car like I would have done for his siblings the results would have been the same.

So, in the middle of the store, I took a deep breath and walked to the side of the cart. I wanted to keep his attention on me and not his little brother. I squatted down to be at his eye level and calmly explained that we were not leaving the store until I got what I needed to get.

JJ was mad and letting everyone hear him, but he had not reached full meltdown mode. I could still reason with him, at least I hoped so.

Then out of the corner of my I saw a guy walk slowly by at the end of the aisle watching us. It was already nerve wracking. Then a moment later he walked by the other way still watching us. So I put both hands on the cart where the guy could see I was not touching the screaming JJ. The guy continued to pace.

After a while, probably only minutes, though it seemed much longer JJ calmed down and we finished shopping.
